At the theme of “Unleashing Wisdom, Showing Talents”, the first Sharpvision English Debate was held in Sharpvision Co., Ltd. on December 22th. Though it was cold outside, the multifunction meeting room where the contest was held was heating up by the fierce competition.
16 debaters from the Sales department are divided into 4 teams marked A, B, C, and D. Our debate concentrated on controversial issues as follows: renting and buying, which one is better; co-habitation before marriage is good or bad; should advertisement be banned during TV-series or TV shows. We have invited four professors from Alcanta College of Foreign languages as distinguished judges for this contest.
In this contest, centering on the topics, every member of the four teams aired their view actively and clearly, and refuted the other side with convincing evidence. The audience’s applause broke forth with enthusiasm for the brilliant performance of the debaters. Three best debaters and a winning team (team B) are competed out after the fierce contest.
This contest definitely provides us with a platform to unleash our talent and show ourselves. Meanwhile, critical thinking and argumentative skills are improved, which echoes the contest’s aim of promoting skills during the competition.
